MARI ZEN-FIELD
These Chicago based rockers have elements of power pop and
bar band rock with easy to feel grooves lead by a female
singer who's octaves dance in between Pat Benatar and Ann
or Nancy Wilson of HEART fame. Their no frills approach
serves as a template for rock and roll that is plain and
somewhat bland but not deficient in the enjoyment
category. A few of the tracks have serious commercial
appeal like "Field" and "All I can
Give" but they didn't and probably won't break the
mold with the entire effort. The saving grace of the album
will be found in the lyrical development that was
heartfelt and honest without sounding cliché or too
syrupy. This CD would no doubt allure fans of good times
rock and roll with a passionate foundation. It won't knock
your socks off but it will keep them on when you want to
feel warm and cozy.
